The Dresdner Philharmonie traces its origins to the inauguration of the first concert hall for the citizens of the city on November 29, 1870. The “Gewerbehausorchester” gave regular philharmonic concerts in Dresden from 1885, which earned the orchestra the title “Dresdner Philharmonisches Orchester” in 1915.
