“Singing together is a peace-moving force!”
On September 18, 2026, composer Helge Burggrabe releases the third part of his HAGIOS peace project with Berlin Classics. The multi-voice, deliberately simple peace chants invite communal singing and draw on Christian-Jewish traditions, mysticism, and philosophy — with texts such as “Shalom. Salam” or “Every part of this earth is sacred to me.”
“HAGIOS Peace Chants III” again features the Hamburg vocal ensemble Elbcanto and pianist Christof Fankhauser, joined by Markus Stockhausen (flugelhorn), percussionist Stephan Krause, and a string quartet from the Hamburg Philharmonic State Orchestra.
For Burggrabe, the chants are not an escape from the world but a source of strength for everyday life — fostering inner calm and active commitment to reconciliation and peace.
